England Breaks Goal-Scoring Record at Major Tournament

The England national team has officially set a new historical record, achieving their highest-scoring performance at a major international tournament (World Cup or European Championship) in their history. During this year's 2026 World Cup, the "Three Lions" netted 14 goals. Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham accounted for the lion's share of this achievement, each scoring 6 times, while Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon contributed the remaining two goals.

Anthony Gordon was, in fact, the scorer of the record-breaking 14th goal. He found the net against Argentina in the tournament's semi-final. However, this proved insufficient for the "Three Lions," who conceded a comeback to lose 1-2 and failed to reach the final battle for the trophy.

With this goal-scoring spree, England's squad surpassed their previous record of 13 goals, set at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Looking further back, the country's two best prior achievements were 12 goals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia (where Harry Kane was the tournament's top scorer) and 11 goals during their legendary and victorious 1966 World Cup on home soil.
