An Ebute-Meta Magistrates Court sitting in Lagos has ordered a 26-year-old security guard,
News Agency of Nigeria [NAN], reports that Habila who worked as the deceased's security man had connived with John to hack the man to death with a digger at his Plot 1673, Karimu Kotun Street, Victoria Island house after they suspected that Shahzad had brought home a huge amount of money.
It was gathered that after the deceased returned from a journey, Habila invited John and another man who is now on the run, to carry out the brutal murder on September 18, 2017, and used the digger to hack him to death after which they fled with the money.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione told the court presided over by Magistrate [Mrs.] A.S. Okubule, that Habile who was Shahzad's domestic staff, invited the others to the house after the victim returned home and at about 8.30 pm, they sneaked into his room and hacked him to death.
The plea of the two suspects who were arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder was not taken by the Magistrate Okubule who directed that they should be remanded in prison custody pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions [DPP], while adjourning the matter to November 10 for a mention.
According to Inspector Uwadione, the offences contravened Sections 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which stipulates death sentence for offenders if they are found guilty.
