The number of lives lost in the current Ebola outbreak has increased to 3,439 according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO made the latest revelation on Friday, October 3, 2014 while also saying that a total of 7,492 cases have been recorded, including the latest patient in the United States.
The new data shows that there had been 739 deaths in Guinea and 623 deaths in Sierra Leone by the end of Oct. 1, and 2,069 deaths in Liberia by Sept. 30. 8 people also died in Nigeria.
Fears of an international spread were confirmed recently when an infected Liberian, Thomas Duncan arrived Dallas, Texas on September 20 and tested positive to the disease on September 30.
