The former middleweight champion believes he did enough to earn another shot at the title. He showcased his full arsenal of skills en route to a comfortable unanimous decision win (50-45, 49-46, 49-46) against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman on Saturday night. Their bout earned the "Fight of the Night" bonus.

Following his victory, Du Plessis declared his desire for a rematch with current UFC champion Sean Strickland, whom he has already defeated twice in his career.

"I'm back in the win column. Let me get my belt back," Du Plessis stated.

Despite the loss, Usman has no plans to end his remarkable career. In his post-fight interview, he expressed dissatisfaction with one of the judges who scored the fight 50-45, as well as a potential eye poke during the bout. Usman did not rule out his next fight being in either the 170-pound or 185-pound divisions.

"It's very rare that I have an off night in here, but it happens to everybody from time to time and I guess this was mine," Usman commented.
