Doncic Erupts for 52 Points in Lakers Win as Defending Champions Fall Again

Luka Doncic erupted for 52 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 132-123 road victory over the Utah Jazz in the NBA.

Doncic sank eight of his 18 three-point attempts and went 17-for-30 from the field overall, guiding the Lakers to their third consecutive victory. It marked his 10th career 50-plus point outing in the NBA regular season. Austin Reaves chipped in with 29 points, as the duo combined to shoot 21-of-24 from the free-throw line.

Lauri Markkanen led Utah with 28 points, but the Jazz failed to capitalize after surrendering an 18-point cushion built in the second quarter.

Elsewhere, the Oklahoma City Thunder protected home court with a 108-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander paced the Thunder with 34 points, while Darius Garland led the Clippers with 16 points and 11 assists.

The Indiana Pacers cruised to a 136-109 road win over the Brooklyn Nets, propelled by Tyrese Haliburton, who scored 20 of his 24 points after halftime. Haliburton shot 8-of-13 from the floor, including 4-for-7 from beyond the arc, delivering his best performance since returning from a severe injury. Pascal Siakam added 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for the Pacers.

The Orlando Magic claimed a 111-102 road win over the reigning champion New York Knicks, inspired by Franz Wagner, who scored 21 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter. Orlando overturned a 10-point deficit in the final period to seal the comeback. Wagner also tallied 13 rebounds and nine assists, while Desmond Bane contributed 22 points.

The defending champion Knicks slumped to their third straight loss, becoming the first reigning champions to endure such a start to a campaign since the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011-12 season. Karl-Anthony Towns posted 22 points and 14 rebounds for New York in the defeat.

In other NBA action, the Minnesota Timberwolves dominated at home to beat the Toronto Raptors 117-94, the Philadelphia 76ers fell 93-106 at home against the Detroit Pistons, and the Memphis Grizzlies earned a 123-112 road victory over the Sacramento Kings.
