This is a good time to be a DJ in Nigeria. The respect for the profession is at an all-time high, the revenue streams have opened up, and with a little PR and some mixes, a DJ can stay relevant as a glorified iTunes playlist. No offense.

As anticipated, the party lived up to its billing. In an industry which favors empty hype over substance, DJ Xclusive’s all-white party stands out as all that was promised, coming to life. The wine, women and alcohol were in abundance, superstar performances were ‘on fleek’, and the music which was masterminded by the man of the hour, was worthy of paradise.

The only part of the affair which was painful to everyone, me included, was that the night had to end. It was meant to last forever. We were meant to be ‘turnt’ forever.

As the new album rolls through Nigeria, ready to be adored bought and listened, the power of DJ Xclusive will grow in leaps and bounds. People all over will marvel at the talent and skill of the man. And barriers to disc jockeying within the country will be slowly overcome.
