Neither Liverpool nor Manchester City will be able to secure their desired target, Adam Wharton, as he is set to remain at Crystal Palace for the upcoming season. This was confirmed by the Eagles' new manager, Pierre Sage, ahead of the team's season opener. The midfielder has been a transfer target for the giants from Anfield and the Etihad, with The Mirror reporting his valuation at £78 million.

“We’ve sold important players, and I believe now is not the time to do that again. Adam is capable of playing for a big club, but I think a year with us, a year in a new environment and with new dynamics, will benefit him greatly, and we also need him,” stated Pierre Sage.

The French specialist also ruled out a departure for Ismaila Sarr, who has a concrete offer from Galatasaray.

“We will keep him because he is truly important to us. Sarr will even be able to play this weekend,” explained the coach.

Palace kicks off their season tomorrow (Saturday) with an away fixture against Everton at 5:00 PM.
