Dino Melaye, the powerful chief from Kogi State is on Pulse Music today. A man for all seasons, and blowing hot and cold, the member of the Nigerian senate from Kogi West, has shown doggedness at every turn. Fighting when needed, showing compassion when called upon, and finally being unable to cohabit a house with a woman (two women have escaped his clutches).

These days, his name is on the lips of every Nigerian who has a passing interest in the nation’s politics. He didn’t champion a bill to promote equal rights, neither did he find the solution to crime. Rather, he allegedly threatened to beat up and impregnate the wife of Bola Tinubu, who is an influential member of the All Progressives Congress party, who also holds both the chieftaincy of the Asiwaju of Lagos and that of the Jagaban of the Borgu Kingdom in the Northern Niger State of Nigeria. He is the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party with president Gen Muhammadu Buhari.

Such a feat needs balls, and Dino’s are the largest so far, because right after the storm came, he paid Lagos a visit, appeared on Bourdillon Road, where the famous house and Tinubu’s seat of power is located.

Such bravery can’t have originated from the breast of Melaye. He had to have inside help and motivation. Pulse carried out investigations, sniffing through his playlist, and surprise! We are shocked to find that he’s a strong fan of Nigerian pop music, with a sprinkling of Hip-hop for extra verve. Cross-checking his history and searching out his most played jams, the top five songs on repeat are below.

Maleek Berry ft Wizkid – The Matter

“Dem say dem bad but i swear dem do nothin

Dem say dey go throw me punch but i swear dem nor reach o eh

20 man shall fall that day if you cross my lane o eh

All your man shall fall that day if you cross my lane o eh"

Dino plays this anthem in the morning just before he leaves his bed. This starts off his day in the right spirit, and keeps his motivation levels high. High octane songs breed high-functioning swashbucklers, and Dino Melaye fits this description. Cross his lane if you dare, but just know that you and 20 of your goons will find the devil giving you shelter in hell.

Olamide – Awon Goons Mi

“Shout out s’awon goons

awon eruku mi

awon loni kin ma para toni keeping cool mi

so bi gobe shele ninu hood mi

teba gbo bajinotu ema rawon goons mi”

Dino has strong backing. He can never carry on the way he does, if he isn’t fortified by some higher power. According to him, his help comes from heaven, the seat of God, and you know how much backing that place offers. Angel Michael, Angel Gabriel, the entire host of heavenly warriors, heck, even King David, the conqueror of Isreal looks down from above. Dino has his back covered.

M.I – Bad belle ft Moti Cakes

Dino’s is a successful man who has had quite a run in local and international politics. He was a Student union leader at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in his university days before leading the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). After that he became the Secretary General of African Youth Council and then that of the Common Wealth Youth Council. These positions won him the African youth of the year award among many other citizens of 54 competing Commonwealth countries in 2005 after which he was appointed by President Olusegun Obasanjo to chair the Presidential Advisory Council on Youths.

He studied Bsc. Geography from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Not fewer than 30 undergraduates are enjoying scholarship under his education empowerment fund, sinking of boreholes in various villages in his constituency, donated drugs worth several millions to hospitals in various villages and not to forget his continuous widow empowerment programmed.

With all of these success, wealth, and philanthropy, it’s only normal that we Nigerians just hate on a flexing man. But you know what? He understands this too, but isn’t concerned. Your bad belle is allowed. This song plays when his name pops up in the news for some ‘fabricated’ indiscretion and alleged wrongdoing.

Timaya – Bow Down

Babalawo power oh..

Oh yeah

Maniru power oh….

Mami water power oh……

I will not bow down

I cannot bow down

I will never bow down yeah yeah

I cannot bow down

Chai! Chai! Chai!

Who wants Dino to cower? Who would attack a Nigerian politician backed by God himself? No other power is greater, hence Timaya’s ‘Bow down’ is Melaye’s favorite worship song. He won’t bow down to the political idols, neither will he seek assistance from Bourdillon. Mami Water? Small fish. Juju? Mtcheeew.

Terry G – Nack Am Akpako

We all know this classic by Terry G, and till date, it inspires Dino Melaye, and keeps him in the right frame of mind right before he walks into any plenary session. You cross him? He knacks you the Akpako, and if you are a woman, well, the kpako will knack you heavy. That’s the Dino way, and in many quarters, the right way.
