Court of Appeal upholds Senator’s election victory

The Court of Appeal has upheld the victory of Senator Dino Melaye in the March 28, 2015 elections.

The petition against Melaye’s victory was filed by Smart Adeyemi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal had also ruled in the Senator’s favour in October.

A witness at the tribunal had alleged in September that the election results were falsified by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in favour of Senator Melaye.

Melaye was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
