The Mobile devices have come a long way in recent years as an advertising and marketing category. As the younger-aged consumers become larger parts of the key spending demographic, mobile devices such smartphones and tablets are quickly becoming consumers' primary computing device. By presenting options like on-site buy buttons, single-click checkout, financing services, and unified offline-to-online commerce experiences, various brands are beginning to convert desktop shoppers to mobile. Hence, the positive and competitive edges of having a mobile app and mobile-friendly website for your business is inherent.

It has been found that the tablets have two to three times a higher commerce conversion rate than desktops, plus they deliver to households with higher discretionary incomes spending roughly 20 percent more per checkout than desktop terming to more money for e-business owners. Also, generally consumers have personal, intimate connections with their mobile devices and delivery is received with lesser distractions. Unlike the PC, the mobile is said to drive better results and engagements (Mitchell Reichgut, CEO of video ads player Jun Group). Using an eMarketer study, it was observed that more people clicked on ads on mobile devices than on the PC  and there has since been a significant increase in the number of clicks on mobile, while the number of ad clicks on PC devices remained relatively stable per time and has since been consistently decreasing. A picture below gives a graphical reference to the aforementioned.

A feature on Forbes website by Jayson DeMers stated that one of the top 7 online marketing trends that will dominate 2016 is that “mobile will completely dominate desktop”. He stated in his article that in 2015 not only did Google announce that mobile traffic finally overtook desktop traffic in 10 different countries, it was also the year they released the “Mobilegeddon” algorithm update to phase out sites not optimized for mobile. But apparently, you don’t have to have an optimized desktop site in addition to a mobile version. He further mentioned that according to Google, a mobile-only site with no desktop counterpart is perfectly acceptable. “ This alone won’t be enough to drive down desktop traffic, but it’s clear what side of the fence Google’s on; they’re banking on desktop traffic fading away, meaning the smart money rests on mobile-focused online marketing”.
