France coach Didier Deschamps emphasized his team's thorough understanding of Spain ahead of tomorrow's World Cup 2026 semi-final clash. He also asserted that the favorites for the title are not "Les Bleus" but "La Furia Roja," citing their triumph at Euro 2024.

"We know Spain well; they are the reigning European champions. We also played them in the Nations League semi-finals last summer. Even before the World Cup began, we were tipped as favorites, but the Spanish are the true frontrunners. This places them under greater pressure due to all their achievements, despite losing the Nations League final to Portugal. They are a very strong team with many strengths. This is the first semi-final of the World Cup, so the level of play will be exceptionally high," Deschamps commented to the French Federation's television channel aboard the flight to Dallas.
