The New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls pulled off a blockbuster trade that sends former league MVP Derrick Rose to the Big Apple, the team announced on Wednesday.

Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick will be sent to New York for Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon.

"This is an exciting day for New York and our fans," Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said. "Derrick is one of the top point guards in the NBA who is playoff-battle-tested. He adds a whole new dynamic to our roster and immediately elevates our backcourt."

Chicago get a big man in Lopez, which is something that was not promised for the Bulls in the upcoming off-season.

Pau Gasol will likely opt out of his contract to test free agency, and Joakim Noah has already said he is not returning to the Windy City.

Rose has been mentioned in trade rumors to the Knicks all week, and now the talks have come to fruition.

The Chicago native has had several injuries throughout his career, and has not quite returned to the player he was when he was named MVP in 2011.
