The Denver Nuggets have reportedly set their sights on Serbian guard Bogdan Bogdanović as they prepare for the NBA free agency negotiation period, which kicks off on June 30th.
According to Meridian Sport, Denver is eagerly awaiting this date to officially begin discussions with Bogdanović. Teams will be permitted to contact free agents starting at 6:00 PM ET.
The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to decline the player option in Bogdanović's contract, which would make him an unrestricted free agent. This development has firmly placed him on Denver's radar.
The Nuggets' front office has long valued the excellent on-court chemistry between Bogdanović and three-time NBA regular season MVP Nikola Jokić.
The duo has shared memorable moments with the Serbian national team, including winning silver medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, their joint participation in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, and most recently, securing a bronze medal for Serbia at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Bogdanović, who turns 34 in August, had a limited role last season with the LA Clippers, appearing in 23 games (three starts). He posted career lows with averages of 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, shooting 38.8% from the field and 34.7% from three-point range.
Over his nine-season NBA career, he has played 561 games for the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and Clippers, averaging 14.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per contest.
Despite speculation about a potential return to Europe after a challenging NBA season, these rumors have not been substantiated so far.
Bogdanović last played in Europe during the 2016-17 season, where he was a key player for Fenerbahçe in their EuroLeague championship run.
The Nuggets are expected to make significant roster changes this summer, with Nikola Jokić being the only untouchable player.
Veterans like Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Cameron Johnson could be included in suitable trade packages, and according to journalist Marc Stein, Gordon is drawing the most external interest.
Christian Braun and Peyton Watson could also be part of trade discussions as Denver aims to reshape its roster.
