Deni Avdija, whose masterful performance propelled his Portland team into the playoffs, stated that his squad is ready for a tough first-round clash against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, who amassed 62 wins in the NBA regular season.

After defeating the Phoenix Suns 114-110 in the play-in tournament, Portland secured their first playoff berth in five years. Deni Avdija dominated the game with 41 points, seven rebounds, 12 assists, five turnovers, and two blocks.

In the first round of the playoffs, Portland will face the San Antonio Spurs, led by Victor Wembanyama.

The Spurs finished the season with 62 wins, the second-best record in the entire NBA, trailing only the reigning champions, Oklahoma.

However, Deni Avdija is not intimidated by the formidable Spurs and has a message for Wembanyama and his teammates.

The Spurs are a great team, very talented. They're also young, so they don't have much playoff experience. It's going to be tough. It's going to be a battle. We'll give it our all. We'll be ready. Deni Avdija

The Spurs hold the advantage in their head-to-head matchups this season, with a 2–1 record against Portland in the 2025/26 regular season.

Avdija and the Blazers will kick off their first-round series against the Spurs in San Antonio on Sunday, with Game 1 scheduled.
