De Zerbi: We Can't Concede Such Cheap Goals

Tottenham finally found the net in the Premier League, but it wasn't enough as they succumbed to a 3-2 home defeat against Aston Villa, having trailed by three goals. Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi made no attempt to hide his disappointment.

"I am very sad. We absolutely cannot lose this game in this manner. We cannot concede such a second goal. We cannot lose our balance just because we are behind after the first half," De Zerbi stated.

"I don't want to talk about the first half, when we dominated, created more scoring chances, and played well. My focus is on why we conceded the first goal with 10 players, in just one minute in that situation. We can be stronger, we can communicate more, we can defend compactly," the Italian emphasized.

"Certainly, this is an aspect for which I am responsible; I don't want to leave without taking my responsibility. But at this moment in the match, when the game is different from possession, when we need to defend compactly, the leaders must be leaders and guide the team," De Zerbi pointed out.

"We need more from Solanke, for sure, but he is one of my players. I like Dom as a player and I will stick with him until the end. His physical condition isn't good enough, and perhaps at the moment, he isn't confident enough, because he is a much better player than this Solanke," the Tottenham manager added.
