Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong recently sat down with the club's television channel to discuss his latest injury, which will sideline him for an extended period. He also touched upon the team's expectations for the new season, the recent signings, and the productivity of the club's renowned academy, La Masia.
“I'm quite disappointed with my injury. What I enjoy most is playing football, and it truly hurts when I can't. I was really unlucky with this injury, as it was purely accidental. The toughest part was realizing afterward that the injury was far more serious than initially expected. Nobody saw it coming, and now I have to focus entirely on my recovery. All I want is to get back on the pitch. I'm currently working with the conditioning coaches, and we've put together a plan that everyone agrees on.”
“I just want to concentrate on my rehabilitation. I'm doing everything possible to get back into good physical condition: I'm mindful of my diet, my rest, and everything else within my control. Right now, I'm doing whatever it takes to return to form as quickly as possible. I truly feel the support of the fans, and that makes me happy. Barça is more than a club, and people show it in every way. I'm going through a tough period because of the injury, but I feel that support.”
“The team looks quite strong, and we're all genuinely enthusiastic. I believe we already have a very solid squad, and we've strengthened it well. We're improving year after year. The team is young but has already won several trophies. Despite that, we still have great ambition to win many more. We'll compete in all competitions with high expectations. We've won trophies in recent years, but we still have some goals left to achieve. We want to win everything every year, and of course, we're very excited about the Champions League.”
“La Masia is incredible. Every year, players emerge from it whom we might not know well, but in a very short time, they become crucial figures for the team. I think that's part of the club's DNA and something unique that Barça possesses and must maintain. As for the new signings, they are excellent both as players and as people. They will be a huge help to us, and I'm trying to assist them in adapting as quickly as possible,” De Jong commented.
