Garbutt, classified by the league as a "repeat offender", was banned without pay for an incident with Edmonton Oilers winger Taylor Hall in Dallas' 3-2 win on Tuesday.

Hall was tripped in the third period of the clash, forcing Garbutt to sit out for a minor penalty.

The 29-year-old Canadian was handed a five-match sanction for boarding then-Anaheim Ducks player Dustin Penner in 2013, and was also fined for spearing last season.

Garbutt will lose more than $43,000 in payments as he misses clashes with the Minnesota Wild on Friday, and the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Jets forward Lowry earned a one-match suspension for boarding Buffalo Sabres winger Patrick Kaleta, and will sit out their trip to the Boston Bruins on Friday.
