Dusty May, an American coach, is set to become the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, according to reports from across the Atlantic. The 49-year-old specialist, despite lacking any prior experience in the National Basketball Association, has built a reputation as one of the top mentors in collegiate basketball. Last season, he guided the Michigan team to their second university title in history, and their first since 1989.
ESPN reports that the deal between May and the Mavericks' management is in its final stages and is expected to be finalized shortly.
In Dallas, Dusty May will take over from Jason Kidd, who was dismissed after failing to lead the team to the playoffs. May will have the opportunity to work with one of American basketball's brightest prospects, Cooper Flag, who was the number one overall pick in last year's draft.
