The news was initially reported by Sky Sport Italia and subsequently confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and other journalists, after the clubs reached a verbal agreement this afternoon. Liverpool will also retain a 10 percent sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player.

Inter submitted their written offer this evening, which was accepted by the English club. Jones has been cleared to travel and is expected to arrive in Italy on Thursday. The hope is for him to successfully complete his medical tests and sign his contract with Inter by the end of the week.

The Nerazzurri had been pursuing the English international since January, but Liverpool had previously refused to lower their asking price of €40 million. Ultimately, compromises were made, as the player's contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and he had expressed a strong desire for a new challenge in Serie A.

Jones will become the third English international to join the reigning Italian champions this summer, following the arrivals of John Stones and Djed Spence.
