Cape Verdean goalkeeper Vozinha, who rose to prominence with his heroic performances during the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, could continue his club career in Chile despite his advanced footballing age of 40. Chilean giants Colo-Colo have reportedly initiated negotiations with the veteran shot-stopper, a move spearheaded by club president Aníbal Mosa, according to journalist César Luis Merlo on his X social media page.

The source indicates that head coach Fernando Ortiz did not personally request Vozinha for his squad but has no objections to the ongoing negotiations and a potential transfer.

Vozinha played four matches at the North American World Cup, keeping two clean sheets. His contract with Portuguese second-division side Chaves expired this summer. The Cape Verde national team, making its World Cup finals debut, reached the Round of 16, where they narrowly lost 3-2 to eventual finalists and then-reigning world champions Argentina. Notably, the team remained undefeated in regular time throughout the tournament, securing goalless draws against Spain and Saudi Arabia in the group stage, and a 2-2 draw against Uruguay.
