Kano Probe: CSO report exonerates APC Chairman, Ganduje of wrongdoing

This announcement came from the Coalition for Truth and Justice in their initial report on the investigation into the former Kano State Governor.

The report, signed by its convener, Dr Okwa Dan, indicated a deliberate effort to tarnish Ganduje’s reputation through a campaign of character assassination and mischief.

The Coalition stated that the evidence provided against Ganduje regarding alleged bribery is unclear and insufficient to prove his guilt definitively.

Reaffirming their commitment to fairness and justice, the Coalition for Truth and Justice strongly advised against using state resources to target political rivals.

“The Coalition for Trust and Justice wishes to use this medium to inform members of the public of the smear campaign, which does not reflect the realities on the ground with the allegations,” the statement said.

The statement added that their “Findings showed that the Kano state government elected to play in the gallery by spreading falsehood and giving a dog a bad name to hang. The recent probe is one such example of the slander campaign against Dr Umar Ganduje that can’t be substantiated. It is a feeble attempt at tarnishing the image of the national chairman of the APC.

“To ensure we are not weighing in on the wrong side of history, the Coalition for Truth and Justice (CTJ) diligently examined the allegations of corruption levelled against Dr. Umar Ganduje,). Our preliminary findings are based on rigorous research, legal analysis, and adherence to principles of natural justice.”

Pulse earlier reported that the Kano State government took legal actions against Ganduje, his wife Hafsat and son Umar.

Ganduje was accused of accepting bribes totalling $413,000 and ₦1.38 billion.

Kano State’s Attorney General, Muhuyi Magaji, filed charges against the defendants, citing legal authority from the 1999 Constitution and the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2019.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State also established two committees to investigate allegations of misusing public assets, political violence, and disappearances during Ganduje’s administration.
