Christian Koloko has officially joined Crvena Zvezda, the Belgrade club announced via social media. The 7-foot Cameroonian center arrives to bolster the red-and-whites' frontline at a time when the team faces major depth issues at the center position.
Koloko was selected in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors, spending the first two years of his professional career in Canada. He subsequently joined the Los Angeles Lakers for a season and has also been associated with the Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks during his time in the world's premier basketball league.
Several clubs showed interest in acquiring the big man, but Crvena Zvezda pushed hardest to successfully secure his signature.
Koloko's arrival comes at a crucial juncture for the Serbian giants. Injuries to Johnathan Motley and Ebuka Izundu left the squad depleted in the paint, forcing management to move swiftly in the market to add another option at the five.
Through the first six rounds of the EuroLeague regular season, Crvena Zvezda hold a 4-2 record. With Koloko on board, the team hopes to solidify its interior presence and build on a promising start to the campaign.
