Juventus star wins UEFA Goal of the Season award

Ronaldo's goal against Juventus beat other nominees to the UEFA Goal of the Season award.

The 33-year-old scored the goal against Juventus in the quarter-final first leg encounter in Turin which Real Madrid won 3-0.

The Portuguese International faced competition from several contenders including Dimtri Payets' stunner in the Europa League and Cristian Eriksen's goal for Demark.

The 12 nominees were unveiled by UEFA on Tuesday, August 14 and after two weeks of voting Ronaldo's goal has emerged the overall winner.

According to the voting results the top three for the awards were Ronaldo in first place, Dimitri Payet's strike in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals between Marseille and Leipzig in second place while, Eva Navarro's goal in the final of the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship between Germany and Spain was rated third.

The other nominees

The other nominees for the award include Elisandro in the UEFA Futsal Cup, Elliot Embleton in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship, Lucy Bronze in the UEFA Women's Champions League semi-finals.

Others are Olga Carmona in the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship, Paulo Estrela in the UEFA Youth League , Gonçalo Ramos in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and Ricardinho in the UEFA Futsal EURO.
