Controversy Undeterred Him. One of the World Cup's Most Watched Figures is on Several Clubs' Radars
According to TEAMtalk and Flashscore, the 25-year-old US international could be in for a major transfer this summer. Folarin Balogun is reportedly being monitored by several Premier League teams, with some already having held discussions with his representatives.
A Return to British Shores?
He is well-acquainted with English football, having come through Arsenal's academy before AS Monaco acquired him for 30 million euros in 2023. Following a strong season where he netted 19 goals across all competitions, his current club is now reportedly willing to let him go for approximately 40 million euros.
With the American forward's contract having just two years left and no extension talks initiated, several clubs have sensed an opportunity.
Newcastle United is reportedly the frontrunner to secure his services. However, Nottingham Forest, Everton, Fulham, Leeds United, and Sunderland are also said to be interested in Balogun. Outside of England, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and Atlético Madrid have reportedly made inquiries.
World Cup Boosted His Appeal
Despite the controversies surrounding his temporary suspension, he performed exceptionally well on the pitch at the tournament. He scored three goals and was one of the standout players for the US national team.
Discussions regarding Donald Trump's involvement in his case garnered global attention, but it clearly hasn't harmed his market value; quite the opposite. Many clubs view him as a player entering the prime of his career.
