Conor McGregor does not seem like the type of person that would go out with a loss, that is why UFC fans were sceptical when the Irishman announced his retirement through his verified Twitter account on Tuesday.

McGregor has become one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts and is scheduled to fight at UFC 200 in a rematch with Nate Diaz, who made him tap out at UFC 196 in March.

"I have decided to retire young," he tweeted. "Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya's later."

McGregor posted on Monday that he had arrived in Iceland for training, making his latest claim even more bizarre.
