A concerning incident involving Bam Adebayo has raised serious alarms, with sports physician Brian Sutterer analyzing the play and highlighting a potentially severe injury.

The Miami Heat center took a nasty fall on the court during the NBA Play-In Tournament game against the Charlotte Hornets, landing directly on his glutes after losing his balance mid-play.

According to Sutterer, the manner in which Adebayo hit the floor is the primary source of concern, as there was no way for the impact force to be absorbed.

"As he falls, he lands vertically, directly on his glutes, with potential injury to the sacrum, coccyx, or lower back," Sutterer explained on his YouTube channel. "And potentially some of these injuries, if the Heat were to win, could keep him out for the next game, if not the rest of the postseason."

The doctor focused on how force is transmitted through the lower spine in such falls, especially in an exposed area that takes the full brunt of the impact.

"Most of that impact likely goes through the sacrum. So, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we see this injury result in a severe sacral contusion, like a bad bone bruise, or even a sacral fracture."

While the play might seem straightforward at first glance, Sutterer emphasized that these types of injuries can be complex and sometimes more serious than anticipated, especially for a player who relies on strength, movement, and physical contact in every play.
