The stunning Chevrolet FNR concept vehicle looks exactly like something out of everyone's favorite sci-fi movie.

Chevrolet debuted the car at the Auto Shanghai 2015 on Sunday and said it is a look into the future of what cars will look like. "What we did with this car is we asked the engineering team to visualize what a car will look like in 2020," said Mike Albano, communications director for Chevrolet.

The FNR features a hubless, magnetic wheel system with wonderful dragon fly doors. It is fully electric, autonomous and is slate gray in color with blue LED accent lights on the wheels and interior. The dashboard and the mesh seats look like something from the year 2085.

According the design, the front seats can swivel and face the back seats when in autonomous mode. Albano said self-driving cars had the potential to make people more productive. "For everyone around the word, time is a key commodity and autonomy would deliver that. If you can take the hands off the steering wheel, you can do other things," he said.

The car is also a mid-sized sedan, which is worthy of mention, because electric vehicles of today are typically very small cars – to shed latent mass – so Chevy is trying their hands at what a mid-sized sedan would be like.

Chevrolet already have all-electric vehicles on sale, though none of the current ones look as sexy as the FNR concept. Albano admitted that the market for these cars is still relatively small.

The FNR can drive today but autonomous driving is not yet functional and it drives at very low speeds, according to Albano. The dragonfly doors do function along with the interior and exterior lights, however, with Albano adding that Chevy has many other semi-autonomous cars driving around their test tracks.
