The position of head coach for the Indomitable Lions became vacant after the departure of Belgian manager Hugo Broos.
Hugo Broos led Cameroon to glory when they country won the , but he failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Now The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) want a new manager at the helm as the country prepares to defend their AFCON title as hosts in 2019.
FECAFOOT have been receiving applications from several coaches around the world interested in the vacant job.
The football body disclosed that over 60 applicants have been successfully cleared and included in the list is Chelsea legend Claude Makelele.
The local media in Cameroon can confirm the application of Makelele and other top coaches such as ex-Super Eagles handler Philippe Troussier as well as Alain Giresse who was previously in charge of Mali.
Makelele who featured for several top sides in Europe but has few coaching experiences.
Now 45-years-old Makelele has been in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, Bastia and Swansea City and is currently in charge of Belgium topflight side Eupen as the head coach.
FECAFOOT are yet to successfully screen the applicants for the job, and Alexandre Belinga is tasked to head the team on an interim basis.
