Fresh off qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League, the Andalusian giants are said to be readying a €15 million offer to bring the versatile midfielder back to Spain.

Uche’s form dwindles after Crystal Palace move

Uche’s career has followed a dramatic trajectory between La Liga and the Premier League over the last two seasons.

During the 2024/25 campaign, he emerged as one of Spain’s most exciting prospects at Getafe. Under the guidance of José Bordalás, Uche made 33 appearances, recording four goals and six assists, establishing himself as a rising star in the division.

However, the transition to South London proved difficult. During a loan stint at Crystal Palace FC, Uche struggled to find his footing under Oliver Glasner, failing to record a single goal or assist in 14 Premier League appearances.

With less than 200 minutes of football played in the Premier League, the midfielder struggled to adapt to the club’s system, losing the significant momentum he had built in Spain.

Manuel Pellegrini’s vision for Uche

Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly a huge admirer of Uche’s versatility after seeing the Nigerian star in LaLiga.

With a Champions League campaign on the horizon, Pellegrini is seeking squad depth and is impressed by the Nigerian's ability to play multiple attacking roles. The Andalusian club sees Uche as a player who simply needs the right environment to revive his career.

If the deal is completed, Uche would become the fifth Nigerian in Real Betis' storied history, following in the footsteps of legends like Finidi George and Victor Ikpeba, as well as Sunny and Nosa Igiebor.

For Uche, a move to the Benito Villamarín represents a chance to prove his worth on Europe’s biggest stage.
