Chelsea Captain: "We Really Need to Improve as a Team"

Chelsea captain Levi Colwill spoke out following the team's disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brentford in the Premier League. The defender was candid about the Blues' persistent vulnerability from set-pieces, a problem that has plagued them since the start of the season. He also stressed that the team cannot solely rely on its attacking trio for results. Chelsea now heads into the international break having secured just one point from their last three matches.

“It was tough. Conceding from a set-piece wasn't ideal, and then we tried to push forward, perhaps exposing ourselves too much. We made a few passes we shouldn't have, and they hit us on the counter, scoring their second. The third goal was a real gut punch. In the second half, we simply weren't good enough, and we have a lot of work to do during this international break.

We haven't been good enough. At times, they bullied us in the box, and we definitely need to improve in that area. We have full faith in our set-piece coach, and we're still adjusting to new things. We really need to improve as a team.”

“I don't think our spirit dropped. It hurt, and we tried to push for an equalizer, but they caught us on the break. I don't believe our spirit faltered.

We still have a lot of improving to do. We can't just rely on our attacking trio to bail us out. The rest of us need to contribute as much as possible. We definitely have a lot of room for improvement,” Colwill stated.
