Celtic's star defender ends Super Eagles hopes, prefers to wait for Germany call-up
High-flying Celtic right-back Moritz Jenz has chosen to pledge his allegiance to 2014 World Cup champions Germany rather than the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Jenz is a 23-year-old defender born in Berlin, Germany but eligible to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria through his grandparents who are of Nigerian descent.
Jenz is currently enjoying a breakout season on loan at Scottish champions Celtic with Terem Moffi's Lorient being the 23-year-old's parent club.
Moritz Jenz wants Germany, not Super Eagles
However, the Celtic star has revealed his intentions for his international career, stating that he would prefer to play for the Die Mannschaft of Germany rather than the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

As reported by owngoalnigeria, Jenz explained that he chose to play for Germany because that is the country he grew up in.
Jenz said: "I qualify for Germany and Nigeria but I would prefer Germany because that's where I grew up."
Euros, not AFCON, on Jenz' mind
The on-loan Lorient star picked the Euros and the World Cup as two tournaments he would love to play in, a feat he hopes he can achieve if he secures his position with the German national team.
"It's a great country to play for and hopefully one day I can make a couple of appearances, then maybe a couple more and then, who knows, perhaps play in a World Cup or Euros," Jenz said of his German national team ambition.
"But I need to do my best for the club first. That's the most important thing and after that we can talk about the national team."
Jenz has previously played for Fulham in the English Premier League as well as Lausanne-Sport in the Swiss Super League.
In August 2021, the highly-rated right-back signed a five-year contract with French side Lorient but failed to crack into the first team at the Ligue 1 club.
Jenz joined Celtic on loan in July 2022 and has so far made a solid impression, securing a place in the Celtic starting XI. The German-born defender has played in seven (7) matches for Celtic this season and also contributed two (2) goals already from his fullback position.
