Carlos Sainz Jr. recently re-signed with Williams, a move confirmed last week. However, persistent rumors suggested he was also in talks with another Formula 1 team, Audi. The Spanish driver has now refuted these claims.

“The Audi information, those are the usual paddock rumors,” Sainz Jr. stated. “I can confirm that this year I haven’t seriously considered the possibility of moving to another team.”

“Before signing the contract, I did explore various options. But ultimately, I realized I didn’t want to leave the team when it’s going through a difficult period. No one in the team is happy with our current situation, and we are striving to change it as quickly as possible. It’s not in my character to abandon a team that is struggling.”

Last year, Sainz’s debut season with Williams showed promise, but the current campaign has been a significant disappointment for both him and Alex Albon. The team’s car has proven to be considerably weaker, leaving both drivers well behind in the midfield battle.
