He will be joined in the team by youngster Rafael Jódar, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who won the Shanghai tournament last week, Pedro Martínez, and Marcel Granollers, the federation confirmed in a statement.
"Without a doubt, we have a very strong team with Carlos Alcaraz, Rafa Jódar, Davidovich, and a solid doubles pair in Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez," said team captain David Ferrer, as quoted by the federation's official website. Ferrer is set to step down from his role as Spain captain following the Davis Cup Finals and will be succeeded in January by former player and doubles specialist Marc López. "We are one of the favourites to win the Davis Cup, but that doesn't matter as much; what's more important is that we have the best players," Ferrer added.
Spain, who have not lifted the trophy since 2019, will take on Austria in the quarter-finals on November 26, aiming to book a semi-final showdown against the winner of the tie between Great Britain and Germany. The other semi-final will feature the winners of Italy vs. South Korea and Czech Republic vs. Canada.
