Brazil's head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, stated Wednesday in an exclusive interview with SNTV that he hopes FIFA will not "ruin" the World Cup with its plans to sell a stake in the tournament to investors.
Speaking in Rio de Janeiro weeks after Brazil's World Cup dream ended in the round of 16 with a loss to Norway, Ancelotti insisted that the World Cup belongs to the fans, not private interests.
"The World Cup belongs to the fans, to the people – to all nations around the world," the Italian coach said. "It's a truly beautiful moment, I think. I hope neither UEFA nor FIFA will ruin this celebration for the entire world."
Ancelotti also discussed why the Brazilian federation's support was crucial in convincing him to remain at the helm of the "Seleção" after the World Cup disappointment, as well as his relationship with Neymar and what Brazilian football needs to do to return to success in the future.
