The Super Eagles of Nigeria will kick off their 2017 AFCON qualifiers against South Africa on Saturday, June 10 in Uyo.

Ahead of the clash, Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has been dealt a huge blow with a hamstring injury to his first choice goalkeeper Ikeme.

The injury meant that he withdrew with the 1-1 friendly game with Senegal in March.

Ikeme could miss the rest of the Championship season with the injury, thereby ruling him out of the clash against South Africa in June.

The 30-year-old has struggled with injury this season and has not played in the Super Eagles last two games.

He withdrew from the squad that beat Algeria 3-1 in Uyo in November 2016 before missing the friendly game against Senegal in March 2017

Daniel Akpeyi came in for him in both games and is expected to do the same against South Africa.
