Cameron Payne's second stint in the NBA proved remarkably brief, as the 76ers waived him just two months after his return from Europe and Partizan.
The veteran guard's release was made to create roster space. Specifically, the Sixers converted Dalen Terry's two-way contract into a guaranteed deal, a move that signaled Payne's departure.
In the 22 games he managed to play for the Sixers, Payne averaged 7.4 points, 2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in approximately 17 minutes per game. However, he will not be able to contribute to the team during the play-in tournament or the playoffs.
Due to NBA regulations, which set a specific deadline for signing players eligible for postseason participation, Payne's season has effectively concluded.
Meanwhile, Dalen Terry, now in his fourth NBA season, is averaging 3.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game this year.
