The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mfom Udoh scored a brace in the return leg clash in Port Harcourt on Sunday for Enyimba to beat Vipers SC 2-0.

Enyimba had lost 0-1 in the first leg encounter about a fortnight ago in Uganda, but Udoji told NAN that the players were motivated enough to upturn the scoreline.

"We were motivated because we didn't want to disappoint ourselves, fans and Nigerians. We had no option other than to win.

"We are beginning to find our rhythm. It wasn't that we were not playing well. It's just that we were not scoring goals,'' he said.

Udoji assured that strategies were being put in place to ensure the club scaled through in the next round.

"Our game in the next round will definitely be a different ball game, since we are expecting a very tough match.

"However, Enyimba is a team that does well when the going is tough.

"The (domestic) league is on now and I am happy that we will play about three matches before our next Champions League game.

"The more league matches we play, the more our confidence builds in the competition,'' he added.

Udoji assured that the team’s coaches would work on the lapses noticed in their matches so far to fortify the team for the task ahead.

He commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) for their support, saying he believed such support would see the club through in the competition.

NAN reports that Enyimba moved to the next round of the competition with Nigeria's other representatives Warri Wolves FC, who gained a walk-over.

Their opponents, Sporting Praia Cruz FC of Sao Tome and Principe, failed to turn up for the first leg encounter in Warri two weeks ago.(NAN)
