The duo participated in a Canadian-French-Serbian co-production project, which is being realized in collaboration with Partizan Basketball Club, a crucial element of the entire narrative. During halftime of the EuroLeague Round 37 game between Partizan and Zalgiris, specific scenes were filmed that will ultimately be featured in the movie. The elite European competition and "The Steamroller" (Partizan's nickname) supported the filming, with Bulut and Dugošija portraying players from the Kaunas team for the shoot.
This is certainly an interesting decision, especially since these are well-known figures in the region, at least within the 3x3 basketball scene. Dugošija's resume includes winning the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters with Zemun in 2017, in one of the most thrilling finals against Domović's Novi Sad team. He is also one of the few players to have won three Masters tournaments with entirely different teams. Bulut, on the other hand, officially retired two years ago due to injury. He is recognized as the most significant player for the development of 3x3 basketball and the individual who paved the way for many subsequent successes achieved by players from this region. It's worth noting that Bulut etched his name in gold within the FIBA circuit, then proved himself in the American Big3 league, all culminating in an Olympic bronze medal for Serbia in Tokyo.
Dugošija: A Special Feeling to Play Before a Full Arena
In a brief interview with "Sportal," the former Zemun player shared his impressions of the filming and the atmosphere in the New Belgrade arena, which was charged with emotion following the passing of legendary coach Duško Vujošević.
- It was a fantastic experience for us. To have the opportunity to step out in front of 20,000 people, in a deeply emotional atmosphere due to the farewell to Dušan Vujošević, is something I'll never forget. It was also great to experience working with our renowned actors and, of course, Bulut, with whom I've played alongside and had a great rivalry. I can't wait for the film to be released and to see how everything turned out in the end - Dugošija stated.
What is "Import"?
This is the story of American basketball player Danny Ingram, who finds himself in Belgrade after a severe shoulder injury. Ingram ends up in the Serbian capital without a contract, in a seemingly hopeless situation. Thanks to his passion for basketball, he manages to earn a chance with Partizan, where he revives his once-promising career at the highest level.
According to its creators, the film is a fairy tale about sportsmanship, love for basketball, the sacrifices it demands, and the perseverance and belief in dreams. The EuroLeague and Partizan supported the production, with filming taking place at the Arena during games against Valencia and the aforementioned Lithuanian team. A set will also be prepared for the upcoming duel with Baskonia.
The film is directed by Paul Skordoff, who chose Serbia and Partizan due to their rich and internationally recognized basketball tradition. In addition to an international cast, Serbian actors such as Miloš Timotijević, Boris Isaković, Luka Grbić, and Miloš Milaković are also featured. The film is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2027 and will also have theatrical distribution in Serbia.
