Buhari ordered the dissolution today, June 26, 2015, via a letter signed by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi.

In the letter, Buhari thanked members of the dissolved board for their services to the nation.

The NNPC has been the centre of controversy in recent times and in 2014 was accused of not remitting $20 billion in oil money to the Federation Account.

Buhari had earlier said that he would probe the allegations of the missing money which were made by then Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
