According to reports, Boko Haram militants have gained control of Chibok in Borno State.

The militants kidnapped over 200 girls from the town in April and promised that they would return to continue their reign of terror.

According to Sahara Reporters, Boko Haram members invaded the town on the night of Thursday, November 13 and began shooting sporadically.

The militants then headed to the village center and announced that Chibok had become part of their Islamic Caliphate.

Many villagers were reportedly killed in the attack and other were forced to flee to neighbouring Damboa.
