MVP: Neymar, Arjen Robben, and James Rodriguez of Colombia.
Golden Ball award: Argentine trio of Angel Di Maria, Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi: Germany’s four players jostling for the award are Mats Hummels, Toni Kroos, Phillip Lahm and Thomas Muller.
Nigerian midfielder Kenneth Omeruo was touted as a promising young talent at the World Cup, together with Vincent Enyeama who was overlooked in the nomination for the .
Enyeama’s concession and record at the tournament (Brazil 2014) was only bettered by USA’s goalkeeper Tim Howard and Costa Rican goalie Keylor Navas but surprisingly, of these trio, only Navas was listed for the best goalkeeper’s award with Germany’s Manuel Neuer and Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
