FIFA snubs Enyeama and Omeruo for Brazil 2014 player awards

The federation of international Football Federations, FIFA released a list of players in contest for the awards given for performances and glories, using the Castrol Index, (un)fortunately, no Nigerian made the list.

Nigerian Goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama was listed in the Top 5 best players of the tournament after the second round of games in the group stage with players like Karim Benzema, Messi, Neymar and the others.

However, FIFA’s List released just before the third place match, has in it the likes of  Memphis Depay (Netherlands), Paul Pogba (France) and Raphael Varane (France) for Young Player of the Tournament.

MVP: Neymar, Arjen Robben, and James Rodriguez of Colombia.

Golden Ball award: Argentine trio of Angel Di Maria, Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi: Germany’s four players jostling for the award are Mats Hummels, Toni Kroos, Phillip Lahm and Thomas Muller.

Nigerian midfielder Kenneth Omeruo was touted as a promising young talent at the World Cup, together with Vincent Enyeama who was overlooked in the nomination for the .

Enyeama’s concession and record at the tournament (Brazil 2014) was only bettered by USA’s goalkeeper Tim Howard and Costa Rican goalie Keylor Navas but surprisingly, of these trio, only Navas was listed for the best goalkeeper’s award with Germany’s Manuel Neuer and Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
