Valtteri Bottas is confident he will retain his Formula 1 seat for the 2027 season, playing down speculation linking Colton Herta to his Cadillac drive.

While the American outfit recently confirmed a contract extension for Sergio Perez, Bottas' future remains officially unannounced. Scrutiny has grown amid a challenging 2026 campaign in which the Finn has trailed Perez 15-9 in qualifying head-to-heads. That has fuelled rumours Cadillac could promote their American reserve driver Herta once he secures the required FIA Super Licence.

"I don't have much to say," Bottas said. "That's just the nature of the sport—there are always rumours. There's nothing more to add; everything will sort itself out eventually."

Although initially announced as a multi-year deal, Bottas' agreement is structured as a 'one-plus-one' contract, requiring the option for the second year to be formally exercised. Should he remain for 2027, it would mark a 14th season on the grid for the Finn, who made his F1 debut with Williams back in 2013.

"To me, staying on is the logical next step. It's written into my contract, which is why I feel quite confident," Bottas added. "I've always been clear about my commitment to Cadillac. Checo has already signed his extension, whereas my side hasn't gone through that final step yet. In a large corporation, these decisions have to go through board meetings. I expect final confirmation soon once everything gets the green light from senior management in the US."

Bottas stressed that their current form must be viewed through the lens of Cadillac's rookie season. The newly formed outfit sits at the foot of the Constructors' Championship without a point after 18 rounds, with veterans Bottas and Perez brought in specifically to aid the squad's long-term development.

"I knew what I was signing up for when I joined—a long-term development project. Sometimes the main objective is simply looking after the car and making sure we see the chequered flag," Bottas explained. "I'm looking forward to the moment we have a more competitive car so we can show what we're truly capable of. Until then, I'm following team orders and making the absolute most of every opportunity. I'm giving it everything on track."
