Cameroon deploys 2000 extra soldiers to fight terrorists

The troops will be sent to the North of Cameroon where the sect carries out most of its attacks.

Cameroon is set to deploy an extra 2000 soldiers to boost its operations against terrorist sect, Boko Haram.

This was disclosed by the country’s state television on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

“Almost 2,000 extra soldiers will be deployed in the Extreme North region,” the Cameroon Radio-Television reported.

According to AFP, the reinforcements will raise to 8,500 the number of troops deployed for the fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

Cameroon has suffered attacks from the sect due to its shared border with Nigeria and in the past two weeks has witnessed five suicide bombings which have claimed 33 lives.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari is set to meet with Cameroonian counterpart, Paul Biya on Thursday, July 29, to discuss the multinational war against the sect.
