Automaker turns new model, M2, into official safety car [PHOTO]

BMW has transformed the M2 into an official safety car.

At the unveiling at the 2016 MotoGP season, the M2 was modified to became a safety car.

Modifications include additional body parts, radio communication systems and the roof-mounted light bar.

Other features are twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine that produces 365 horsepower.

This modified model has a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph.

M2 will partake in the first race of the 2016 MotoGP season, on March 20th.

After the race, the M2 will be sold for $52,695 in April.
