Okagbare initially won bronze in the Women’s Long Jump event behind Russia’s Tatyana Lebedeva who took home the silver.

The Delta State born athlete is set to be however upgraded to silver after the International Olympic Committee (IOC)on Wednesday, January 25 stripped Lebedeva of her silver medal after her drug test returned positive.

Okagbare made the podium back then with a leap of 6.91m while Lebedeva had a leap of 6.97m.

The Russian also had her silver medal in the triple jump event stripped after re-analysis of her samples from Beijing 2008 tested positive for steroid turinabol.

Lebedeva still has two other Olympic medals from the Sydney and Athens Games.

The 40-year-old retired in 2013 and became a Russian senator a year later. She has accused the World Anti-Doping Agency of trying to manipulate the Olympics, calling the agency a tool of 'the Anglo-Saxon lobby.'

Okagbare has made three appearances at the Olympics, (Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016).
