MFM FC vs Shooting Stars
The Olukoya Boys have started the season very poorly with just two wins from eight games (L6) which have confined them to the bottom of the log. While their two victories were on home soil, they have also lost twice at home to the current top two in Remo Stars and Rivers United. As this is a South West derby, it will be another difficult afternoon for MFM in Lagos.
The newly-promoted Oluyole Warriors have done slightly better with three points separating them from MFM and one point above the relegation zone. The Ibadan outfit have also won two matches from eight but have drawn three matches (two at home) and lost three, all on the road. Shooting famously beat MFM 1-0 in Lagos back in 2016 and will hope to replicate it again.
MFM are yet to record a draw in any of their matches this season. Only once have these two sides shared the spoils in four head-to-head meetings. Considering the need for them to improve on their fortunes and the derby atmosphere, either side taking the three points is a great pick for punters.
Prediction: Either team to win
BetKing odds: (1.24)
Plateau United v Abia Warriors
The season has been one-sided for the Peace Boys as they have a 100% record at home while it is 100% in terms of losses in all away games. Another home match against the men from Umuahia is another opportunity for three points.
Abia Warriors' have only managed to pick one point from their travels this season (L3) while their home form has been mixed (W2 D2). They last denied Plateau all three points in Jos back in 2018. Another chance of them avoiding defeat at the New Jos Stadium is however a very long shot.
Prediction: Plateau United to win
BetKing odds: (1.45)
Remo Stars vs Rivers United
The town of Ikenne is the centre of attention on Sunday as it is a battle of first versus second who are not separated by anything. Indeed, these two share the same number of points (18) while their form is the same after eight matches (W5 D3 L0).
The Sky Blues have a 100% record at home (four wins from four) while the Pride of Rivers have three wins and one draw on their turf. On the road, both teams share two wins and two draws apiece. In terms of goals scored Rivers have four goals (14) better than Remo (10) while the Port Harcourt side have conceded three times and the men from Ikenne twice.
Head-to-head tilts towards the side of Rivers United as they have a 100% record against them in the NPFL (five wins from five), three of which are away wins. The realities are however different now as Remo are a revamped side and not the one previously struggling in the relegation zone. It is tough to make a call here but both sides will want to preserve their unbeaten run which makes an outright draw a bold pick.
Prediction: Match to end in a draw
BetKing odds: (3.25)
Wikki Tourists v Nasarawa United
These two also have little separating them as they are both tied on 12 points in sixth and seventh place respectively, Wikki having played a game less.
Away from that, the Bauchi Elephants have recorded four wins from seven, all at home. They however suffered a 2-1 home loss by Remo Stars.
For the Solid Miners, it has been mixed results with three wins, three draws and two losses. All defeats were away but there was one draw at home and two on the road.
Nasarawa did a double over Wikki last season, winning 2-1 in Bauchi. Their struggles away from home this season and Wikki's 100% home record indicates this tie is in the latter’s favour as highlighted by the bookmakers.
Wikki Tourists to win
