Berrettini Awaits Grigor Dimitrov in Vienna Second Round

Matteo Berrettini has advanced to the second round of the ATP 500 hard-court tournament in Vienna, which features a prize fund of €2,797,985. The Italian awaits the winner of the clash between Bulgarian number one Grigor Dimitrov and fourth seed Flavio Cobolli of Italy.

The 30-year-old Italian defeated Argentina's Tomás Martín Etcheverry 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 24 minutes to book his place in the second round of an event where he previously reached the semi-finals in 2019. Ranked 48th in the world, Berrettini claimed a break of serve in each set to comfortably dispatch the ATP world No. 29.

Dimitrov's match against Cobolli will take place tomorrow, marking the first career meeting between the two. Against Berrettini, the Haskovo-born star holds a 2-1 head-to-head advantage, having won their most recent encounter in a five-set clash at Wimbledon in July.
