Barcelona has officially announced the sale of young midfielder Tomi Marquez to Portuguese club Braga.
The Catalan giants will receive a fixed fee of 11 million euros for the 19-year-old midfielder, with an additional 1 million euros in bonuses tied to individual and team performance targets.
Marquez, a product of Barcelona's renowned academy, had only managed two appearances and a mere nine minutes of play for the senior squad. His dream of a first-team debut came true on February 7, 2026, against Mallorca at Spotify Camp Nou. However, fierce competition within the squad led the youngster to seek a team where he could secure more playing time, ultimately choosing Braga.
Barcelona has also secured 20% of the player's economic rights, along with a buy-back option for 60 million euros and a percentage of any future sale, as reported by "Mundo Deportivo."
Tomi Marquez, who will wear the number 16 shirt, has signed with Braga until 2030. Accompanied by his agent, former player Ivan de la Peña, Marquez recently watched the Portuguese side's 2-0 victory over Austria Vienna in the Conference League playoff round.
At Braga, Marquez will join another La Masia graduate, Pau Victor, who proved last season that the Portuguese club is an excellent environment for footballing development. The former Barça forward scored 17 goals for Braga and was awarded the number 10 shirt this season.
