Barcelona Seeks €210 Million Loan for Transfers

Barcelona's management is planning a significant investment in the summer transfer window. Both the sporting director and new coach Hansi Flick believe the squad needs substantial reinforcement to guarantee contention for all trophies next season, especially the Champions League. The past two years have shown the team has the quality to win La Liga, but not to triumph in Europe's most prestigious club competition.

For this reason, the club is actively working in the market to attract top-tier players. However, achieving this requires financial resources. Adhering to the 1:1 rule will facilitate the registration of new players and allow the club to utilize the full amount of revenue from sales. Yet, this alone will not be sufficient.

Therefore, the club has requested a loan of 210 million euros to execute the desired transfers, according to “Marca.” The Catalan giants are currently facing a liquidity shortage and have resorted to this financing, which will be secured against anticipated revenues for the next season. The board is aware that these funds are vital for securing key additions.

Not the entire loan amount will be used for transfer payments. A small portion will cover salaries and other ongoing club expenses. Nevertheless, the majority of the funds are earmarked for strengthening the squad.

Currently, Barça is working on bringing in three players: Julian Alvarez, João Cancelo, and Karim Adeyemi. The transfer of Adeyemi appears to be very close. The other two deals are expected to take more time. In the case of the Atlético Madrid forward, the club has not yet launched a final offensive, which is anticipated after the World Cup. As for Cancelo, there are still some issues to resolve with tax authorities before the operation can be finalized.

Furthermore, Barcelona has already finalized the transfer of Anthony Gordon for a fee of 70 million euros plus an additional 10 million in bonuses.
