FC Barcelona announced on Friday that it has raised 105 million euros through a guaranteed bond issuance. The securities mature in October 2036 and carry a fixed coupon of 5.14%. The Catalan club stated that the operation generated significant interest among international investors, particularly in the United States.
The club explained that demand more than doubled the offered amount, with an oversubscription exceeding 200%. The entire issuance was placed in less than two hours among a group of American institutional investors, including insurance companies, investment funds, and pension funds.
According to Barça, the outcome of the operation demonstrates the market's confidence in the club's project and the development of its financial strategy. In this regard, it was highlighted that the spread demanded by investors decreased from 240 to 202 basis points compared to the previous issuance, which is interpreted as an improvement in the club's perceived risk.
The Catalan giants will utilize the raised capital to bolster their liquidity and further advance their strategic plan. The objective is to stimulate growth and financial consolidation for the club.
Goldman Sachs acted as the lead manager and placement agent for this ten-year bond issuance, which was finalized in just two hours.
